(... continued from the )

Next I'll give a run-down on some of the activities of the week, at least with a broad brush.

We arrived on Saturday. Clifton was able to make it up. Paul and I made supper that day. Sunday we all walked into town. Chatham has a nice down-town area, with a good selection of little shops. I got myself the stylish hat you see in some pictures. Then we drove up to Provincetown. On the way we stopped at a little winery in the next town over, Truro. Unfortunately we missed the tour, so we just wandered around a bit. Matt & Kelly bought a bottle to use in the wine tasting later in the week.

We then arrived in Provincetown proper. We parked in the parking lot at the Pilgrim Monument. Paul and I decided that we would have to make another trip there sometime to spend more time in the surprisingly large museum that is at the bottom of the monument. One of the items of note in the museum was a little display on Willard Sears. He designed the monument. He also is the person who expanded Quason Lodge, where we were staying, from a small house to the large one it is now. The monument was open for walking to the top. Along the way some of the stones were polished and engraved with the name of the sponsor. Most were Massachusetts towns. We thought this one was interesting.

And here is a picture of the ramps (rather than stairs), a picture of one of the views from the top, and of my handsome husband.

This picture is from Matt, of Emily & I by a "tourist" statue.

A view of the monument from the base, and the gargoyles that adorn the top of the monument. After supper, we went to one of the shows, Lip-Schtick. It was a fun show, although I seem to have enjoyed it more than some of the others.

When we arrived back at the house that evening, Corinne, Jeremy, & kids had arrived.

The house is on Stage Harbor, with some grass and flowers separating the house from the beach. Most mornings, at least some of us walked along that beach. Here is Emily on a morning walk we took. The stone stairway leads to another house along the harbor. The last picture is south of the house, looking up the waterway leading to Oyster Pond.

On Monday, after a bit of frisbee throwing (and breaking of a window) ...

... we went to the Chatham Lighthouse Beach. This is a large beach. We were lucky enough to see a gull catch a crab and have lunch.
