This page is for some images of water scenes, mostly calm.
We will start with a little action: we saw a very large flock of Cormorants. Very large. This picture only shows some of them. They didn't like us anywhere near them, so they were moving on.
This handsome male Common Eider was a bit calmer.
The ocean water is of course constantly moving. Sometimes that shows more than other times. And sometimes capturing that motion makes it calming. These pictures were taken at Pemaquid Lighthouse.
Sometimes the surface is very calm, particularly in harbors.
And sometimes not as calm.
Sunrise or Sunset can give a soothing mood.
Fog, while the bane of sailors, can make a lovely scene. One day while walking through Porter Preserve, we saw the fog rolling in right before our eyes. That day, if we drove a mile away from the shore the sun was shining, but at the shore the fog became very dense.
We could see the line between fog and no fog.

Sometimes, if you are lucky, a calm ocean surface reflection can be magical.
(The full-size pictures show this even better!)
Next we will go to the Botanical Gardens.
