Pocasset is a village within Bourne, on Cape Cod. It is on the Buzzards Bay coastline of the Cape.
Reserves we have visited in Pocasset:
Little Bay Conservation Area and Monk's Park are two adjacent preserves in Pocasset, on Cape Cod (so if there isn't parking at one, drive around the corner and park at the other). Little Bay is a conservation area and Monks Park is technically a town-owned park. They both include wooded areas as well as marshy coastlines.
The two together have a tiny bay between two tiny peninsulas. The more northern one (part of Little Bay) has a couple of benches.
Neither bench looks very safe to actually use but if you are daring you can have a nice view (not glorious views but very nice views). The picture immediately above shows a railroad track over a roadway. That road gives access to the more southern peninsula (part of Monk's Park) for residents of the area to use the boat landing.
This man is using an inflatable paddle board that has a chair on it; this is an interesting combination of comfort and portability.
You have likely noticed the black containers floating in the water in these photographs. Those are called harvest containers. They are used for various types of shellfish; oysters are likely in this area.
As is typical for this area, there were Fiddler Crabs calling the beach area home.
The Cape Cod Railway Bridge is visible from here.
Walking back through the woods, we crossed the railroad tracks and could see a father and his children taking advantage of the easy walking path it created.
See Little Bay, above.
For a nice easy walk through the woods, Red Brook is a good destination. The loop is about a mile, although with the cross trails some additional distance can be covered. At the northeast end are some working cranberry bogs. There aren't a lot of scenic views so we did not take many pictures except of this bush near the entrance with very colorful blooms.
